Battery operated lamps have an obvious advantage: they have no cords dangling from them. This means you can place them just about anywhere, even in the center of a room, and there will be no unsghtly wire across the floor that you can trip on. You can also move the lamp from room to room easily. These types of lamps are now made in decorative shapes that are just as beautiful as their corded counterparts, but they do tend to be on the expensive side.

Touch desk lamps

When working or reading at your desk, a ceiling light is fine for most activities, but when you need a direct or focused stream of light for more accurate detailing of what you are doing, a desk lamp is your best bet. There are a variety of lamp styles, from classic bankers lamps to modern chrome goose neck lamps. There are even touch lamps that turn on with just the touch of your finger. It would be best to consider the size of your desk, how much stuff is on it and what style of lamp would fit best.

Battery operated cordless table lamps

If you live in an area with lots of power outages – either caused by hurricanes in summer or ice storms in winter – you most likely have a few flashlights around the house for such emergencies. And while a flashlight may help find your way around the house, it’s definitely hard to read by if the power is out for any great length of time. In such a case, battery operated cordless table lamps can provide more than enough light to read by. Also great for a child’s’ room so they don’t get scared in the dark.

Another great thing about these lamps is that you can bring them from room to room without having to plug and unplug them or having to worry about whether there is a free outlet near where you want the lamp. The down side is that battery powered lamps are usually less bright than their corded counterparts.
